The Weekend

How was yours?  Mine was was mostly uneventful as far as cookouts or what have you.  Plus, I haven't been feeling all that great, so I stuck around the house mostly.

I managed to miss a cousin's graduation party and I was supposed to drive the Mustang in a parade but it rained that morning.

I hung with my son's family for about an hour on Saturday.  On Sunday, I attended what's called a Throwback Reunion cookout.  A high school associate of mine started putting these together a few years ago.  It's kind of a homecoming get together, not limited to any graduating class or school.  Just a throwback to times past.

I saw a guy I went to DAY CARE with back in 1971 and we attended neighboring colleges in the late 80's (above) and my middle school crush from 1979 (below) *I think he's still fine and he's STILL with his high school sweetheart*.

It was great seeing some of these folks who I've not seen since I graduated high school (Class of '86) and some people I forgot about until I saw them.  It was nice getting together for a good reason and not a funeral.

Is there anything like this in your hometown?

  1. Looks like you had fun sis (and the gentleman in the green stripe shirt is nice looking *smile*). My weekend was uneventful... I wasn't feeling good on Saturday so I think I missed out on a date. It's all good because I was able to have myself a "Sex & the City" marathon so I'm up to date when the movie comes out this weekend.

  3. Hey, your throwback cookout sounds like it was fun. Good for you. I have never attened my high school reunions, my college reunions, hell, I didn't even go to my high school prom. LOL....but its cool you guys still connect.

Actually, the friends I had in high school and I are still like family to this day....its maybe 2-3 folks. The rest I met either in college or after college.

MY WKND? It was cool...hung out at the Atlanta Jazz Festival, went to a cookout, saw my best friend and his family [my nephews] and it was all good.

was hoping to connect with a certain honey but it didn't work out like that. Oh well..HER LOSS!

  12. I definitely don't think we have any of those functions down here....weekend was good for the most part. Had to work my part-time dealing with those crazies that come into the emergency room *shaking my head*. Had one of my girlfriends 3 girls in addition to my 2 girls and their friends so I was stuck with 7 girls from ages 6-14 *looking for blood pressure medicine*

  13. Honey giggling wasn't even the only thing....those personalities and the things some of them talked about. I had to call my friend and ask her if she actually knew her daughter was doing some of the things I heard at 14. Wow

I am so glad my daughter at 13 isn't into boys as much as most teenage girls are in this day and age

  14. I know what you mean! I'm glad my boys are mama's boys. I'm hoping they'll stay virgins at least as long as I did...there's too much that goes along with sex these days.

  15. That is good....that again leads to appropriate parenting and setting the foundation early.

  17. I just realized you commented on my comment! Now THAT is funny! After reading my OWN comment, I can see why you were SCUURED!!! I wouldn't put my business out there like that though. Don't worry- I don't think you'll have any little "nieces or nephews" running around any time soon sis. *ROFLMBO*

  20. LOL @ Red!

And WHO remembers folks from day care?!! Wow!!

The buttery jokes are killing me!

What a cool idea, Deddles! We don't have anything like that here! We can't get these tired people to show up for anything! I need to move!

My weekend was nice and relaxing.

  21. My neighborhood changed so much I would not recognize it anymore.

My weekend was good. Saw the WNBA game Sunday. Monday was not as relaxed as I would have liked. LOL But otherwise things were good.

  22. My old neighborhood has an annual reunion BBQ in the park. I haven't gone since I moved out in 2000. That place is bittersweet for me. I don't have a relationship with anyone there, nor do I care to.

  23. My weekend ended today...I took Friday and Tuesday off giving me a full 5 day weekend! Wooo hooo! And it was sorely needed and appreciated. I did some shopping for my trip and hung with my mom and sister at the mall. We got my sis some maternity clothes (I'm finally going to be an aunt!!!). Went to church Sunday followed by the family holiday BBQ at my aunt's house in waukegan. They had a moonwalk for the kids so my boys had a blast. It was good seeing my relatives, especially since ALL of us showed up this time. I wish we had taken a group photo...but we are talking about doing something on the Fourth of July.

Monday my oldest went to see the new Indy movie for his best friend's birthday..it was a group of nine year old boys and girls. They dressed up as characters from the movie. When they got back to the house, they had an Indiana Jones obstacle course...it was soooo cool. Then yesterday the hubby and I went shopping for his stuff for our trip and had lunch.

So my weekend in all was FANTASTIC! I wish we had a throw back thing in our neck of the woods. We didn't even have a 10 year high school reunion.. *pout*
