Jill Scott talks about bra problems

By NEKESA MUMBI MOODY, AP Music Writer 2 hours, 40 minutes ago

NEW YORK - Although Jill Scott loves her curves, her ample bustline has caused her plenty of pain.

"I have large breasts," Scott told The Associated Press in a recent interview. "I've been blessed with them, and I need something that can support (them)."

She's had bras custom-made, and has even worn two at a time — "a bra for lift, and one for shape," the 35-year-old Grammy-winning singer/actress said. But still no relief.

Now Scott believes she's found a solution for herself — and millions of other voluptuous women — with her "Butterfly" bra for plus-size store Ashley Stewart.

The bra, which Ashley Stewart says is "inspired" by Scott, puts additional fabric and support on the back of the garment rather than on the shoulder straps, which can cut into the skin.

"I got tired of the hurting shoulders — that's not nice," said Scott, who starred in last fall's hit film "Why Did I Get Married?" She is touring to promote her latest album, "The Real Thing: Words and Sounds, Vol. 3."

There was a time, Scott said, when she considered breast reduction but decided against it, fearing the surgery would be painful.

"Besides, I really enjoy my breasts," she said. "They've been with me for a long time — without being too graphic, we've had fun!"

  9. I wore 2 bras for a few years...up until 2005 when my sis-in-law gifted me with a balconnette bra from lane bryant. haven't looked back since...and really...i was being cheap before...still tryna squeeze ff's into 2 walmart ddd's. *hangs head in shame*. of course I had some cute bedroom bras...but they don't hold worth a damn...the LB balconettes are sexy enough and come in every color of the rainbow..and hella comfy.

I am considering the reduction and lift tho, after I'm done nursing...but ill never go lower than a dd...

  13. Jill does have some big knockers. I saw her in concert last week and you couldn't help but notice because she's lost weight.

    I'm glad I don't have that problem.

  24. My mother actually worried I would have this problem. I started developing early, then stopped, then started again. Thought I was a C cup. Got measured professionally turned out I was a D cup!! Doh!!!! Okay I was in denial. LOL

I can understand how it can be finding the right bra, and I'm pretty much average sized. But the pain women who walk around with Double, Triple, etc. sizes breasts I can't even fathom, and the back pain, discomfort. I mean my poor cousin had to wear a bra all the time. She hated I could go braless which I mostly do when I'm home. When she went without, she literally felt the weight.

So when women go for the reduction, it's because they are HURTING. otherwise they would keep those babies.

  25. exactly......i had a total of 7 lbs of tissue removed and was still left wit a full c and i tell every man that asks y ta walk around wit 15lbs pulling @ ur chest n then ask me why...yes they were nice n pretty lookin b4 the surgery but tha things HURT!!!!!

  26. WOW, but I bet you felt so much better when the procedure was done right?

    ReplyDelete
  27. very much so....i was finally described as sumthin other than nori tha chick wit them huge boobs lol...it was literally a weight lifted off of i i haddnt realized that i wasnt able ta stand up compleatly strait

    ReplyDelete
  28. Awesome. You know I think so many women hesitate having the surgery for fear men will leave etc. etc. Which is stupid IMHO.
